I began working at Willows Nursery School in 2004 only months after they opened, I began in the Toddler Room as a childcare practitioner. Over the years I have been based in all rooms, being a senior in the Baby and Toddler Room. Having this experience helped me to gain the knowledge required to progress onto the role of Assistant Deputy Manager, then to Assistant Manager, and more recently Nursery Manager.
In my new role I am based within all rooms working with the teams to help to enhance their learning environments and to create the best possible place for the children in our care. I hold a Foundation Degree in Early Years, I am Paediatric trained and also First Aid at work trained. I have an up to date food safety and child protection certificate also.
I gained my BTEC National Certificate in Childcare at college before staring at Willows Nursery School. I have worked at Evolution Childcare for 4 and a half years, working in the Toddler and Reception Rooms, before being promoted to Senior Practitioner last year. I was then offered the role of Baby Room Manager and Assistant Deputy Manager. I am now delighted to be working alongside Helen as Nursery Manager.
During my time at Evolution Childcare I have completed many other qualifications, including Team Leadership and Equality and Diversity. I currently hold certificates for Food Hygiene and Paediatric First Aid and have also gained my Early Years Degree.
I studied childcare at College starting from Entry level Childcare and worked my way up to Level 3. After leaving College, I gained some hands-on experience working for an agency and working as cover staff at a local nursery.
In 2012, I applied for a Childcare Practitioner role at Evolution Childcare @ The Willows. I spent 5 years within the Toddler room before I left to take maternity leave.
On my return, I spent 2 years within the Reception room where I gained confidence and learnt new roles and responsibilities, including working with children with SEND. This led me to apply for a Room Manager position. My application was successful and I became manager of the Toddler room. Following my second maternity leave, I became the Room Manger of Early Learners, and shortly after was promoted to 3rd in Charge, where I again returned to the Toddler room, to further my knowledge and skills.
I have gained many qualifications whist being at Evolution Childcare @ The Willows, including First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding Children, and Designated Safeguarding Lead.
I went to College to study Childcare Level 3, following which I immediately applied for a Childcare Practitioner role at Evolution Childcare @ The Willows. Since 2021, I have worked in the Baby room, Toddler room and Early Learner room and have gained valuable experience and skills within all three. This experience enabled me to apply for a Room Manager position of the Baby Room and I was successful in doing so.
I am looking forward to continuing to learn new skills and putting all of the knowledge I have learnt into practice. I am currently working through an intensive 3 month probationary period, receiving training from the Management team. I cannot wait to continue my career journey within the company and really get stuck into my role as Room Manager.
I have gained many qualifications whilst being at Evolution Childcare @ The Willows, including First Aid, Food Hygiene and Safeguarding Children.
I started at Evolution Childcare @ The Willows when I was 18 years old and I worked there for 5 years. In this time, I completed my Level 2 and 3 qualifications in Childcare and spent the majority of my time within the Reception room, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
After much deliberation, I embarked on a career change to try something new, and within that time, I bought a house and had my baby, Lake. Whilst on maternity leave, and when thinking about my return to my job, I found myself missing Childcare and being at The Willows. I decided to return back to become the Room Manager of the Early Learner room as well as bringing my son Lake into the baby room. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to come back to where I started my childcare career, and be back with my Willows family.
I have recently finished my intensive 3 month probationary period receiving training from the Management team, and cannot wait to continue my career journey within the company and get stuck into my role as Room Manager.
I have competed many courses within my time at The Willows from safeguarding, first aid, food hygiene and equality and diversity.
I have worked at Evolution Childcare The Willows for 3 years, starting off as a childcare practitioner in the Reception room before being offered room manager of Baby room in September 2023. I have completed several training courses within my time at Evolution Childcare, from in-house training to room manager training, and completing my Level 3 in Childcare. This led to me becoming the room manager in currently our busiest room, Reception, in February 2024.
I am also the Behaviour Officer, working closely with parents to help with any queries or issues, to ensure their child gets the best support and to create a safe and educational setting for the children. I love to get creative and create fun and educational displays and environments. In the future, I would like to complete more SEN courses and gain as much experience and gain valuable knowledge for me to be the best room manager I can be.
During my childcare career, I have worked in private day nurseries mainly with children 3-5 years of age. I joined Evolution Childcare The Willows in May 2010 as a childcare practitioner and was promoted to room manager of Reception in 2012. Over the years, I have gained experience and qualifications to support my role in education & learning environments, and in my own personal development I have completed a team leadership qualification. I have true passion to provide a fun, caring and educational environment for all children in my care to help them develop to the best of their abilities. With my team, we support children and families as they make the transition to primary school. I have a BTEC qualification in childcare, I am paediatric first aid trained and have up-to-date safeguarding and food safety certificates.
I am currently our nursery SEND co-ordinator at The Willows, and over the years I have gained both experience and qualifications for working with children who need additional support. This gives me the ability to adapt my skills to work with a variety of children and families to enhance their learning and development.
